Why is it that open sandbox games are fun? I personally find them fun because I don’t really have to follow the main story and just do what I want. That is one of the reasons why I love Skyrim. I could just point my character in any direction and eventually I would come across something interesting. The freedom to do whatever I want is extremely relaxing after a long day. Then when one adds on mods, it allows me the ability to make the game my own giving me even more freedom.
But were did the concept of an open world game come from? What was the first open world game? The video bellow by Ahoy tries to answer some of these questions. If you like this video please go to Ahoy’s Patron and donate to him so he can continue making wonderful game related content.
